THE GUNJUR PROJECT LODGE
More then just a lodge....where the community benefit from your holiday or volunteer experience.
Tips
There several things you have to think about before you go on holiday. To make it easy we made a list with the most important things to remember.
Useful to bring along:
- good shoes/sandals
- torch, especially a head light can be very practical
- a first aid kit
- medicines against dehydration, diarrhea, malaria, etc
- protection against the sun (eg. sun cream, hat, sun glasses)
- protection against mosquitoes, the rooms have netting
- sweat bands, especially from July till November
- comfortable and loose fitting clothing, some long sleeves for the night time
- for the months December till March bring a light jacket/fleece for the evenings
- pens, exercise books etc for school kids
- old or second hand clothing to give away
- toys etc to give away
Before you leave:
- Check your inoculations with your GP
- Money, bring cash or traveller cheques (commission on changing these cheques might apply). The use of a credit card is very limited in Gambia. The use of a debit card is NOT possible; you can only use a VISA card in the ATM's. (nearest available in Serrekunda)
- Ensure that your passport is still valid and if you need a visa for Gambia. UK and most EU nationals do not need a visa.
- get a travel insurance
